Van Halen Charts with Tattoo

It's like they never left! After retreating from the spotlight in 2008 for Eddie's hand surgery, the band went back into the studio to record their latest album A Different Kind of Truth. Now with the release of their first single from that album, the epic rock track Tattoo, Van Halen has shot all the way to number 16 on the charts. Not bad for a comeback! It's the news we've all been waiting for Van Halen fans! David Lee Roth is back in the fold along with Eddie and his son Wolfgang. They're going to be heading back out on a nation-wide tour, and it sounds like it's going to be great. At today's press conference, Eddie and David said that they've never sounded better. - Both David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar have had two seperate stints as the lead singers of Van Halen. Roth had the position between 1974-1985 and 1996-1997, while Hagar had it from 1985-1996 and 2004-2006.

- Van Halen is known for its "Brown Sound", generated by a combination of guitar and amplifier techniques pioneered by Eddie Van Halen.

- Van Halen holds the #7 spot on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock".

- Eddie Van Halen is #70 on Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Guitarists of Rock and Roll.

- The solo in "Eruption" is #2 on Guitar World's 100 Greatest Guitar Solos, after it introduced the "tapping" technique, which utilizes both the left and right hands on the neck of the guitar.
